Governor Doyle to invest $6.6 million Governor Jim Doyle and Dane County Executive Kathleen Falk held a press conference at Holy Wisdom Monastery on Tuesday, March 10, 2009. Governor Doyle announced his plan to invest $6.6 million in two agricultural digesters which will process cow manure from five area farms. The digesters remove phosphorus from the manure, making the cattle by-product usable as an alternate, renewable form of energy. Phosphorus is the primary element in the waste run-off that has changed the chemical make-up of Lake Mendota and other area lakes over the years, feeding the algae that overruns our once clear lakes. Holy Wisdom Monastery was a natural selection for the press conference due to our commitment to the environment and protection of Lake Mendota. Sister Mary David shared information about our environmental initiatives and the construction of our new "green" monastery, then introduced Dane County Executive Kathleen Falk.
